Program Overview

After an aggressive bidding process, PowerOptions® has negotiated favorable payments and contract terms for you. The contract, established with Comverge, delivers demand reductions on behalf of all PowerOptions® customers that sign up. Comverge, a leader in the clean energy field, currently does business with 500 utilities in the US and manages 5 million end use devices. Aspects of the program include: 

• Enrolled customers will be paid for each Kilowatt delivered.
• Payments are fixed for the next 5 years, enabling accurate budget development for this revenue source.
• Comverge handles all technical requirements of program participation in exchange for a share of the payment.
• After a free Demand Response audit of facilities and usage analysis, Comverge advises customers on how to reduce load in compliance with the program. Control technology is provided to help facilitate the reduction (e.g. cycling an HVAC system, dimming lights, web-based energy management program to monitor your hourly usage).
• Upon enrollment, a committed load reduction is established for the facility. The actual load reduction will be the basis for payment for a period of time, even if you meet your earlier committed amount.
• There are no penalties for non-performance under the DR program. The only effect is that payments will be reduced.
