Boston, June 4— PowerOptions, the state’s premiere energy-buying consortium for nonprofits and government entities, today announced that John G. Cochrane, a former CFO of National Grid USA with more than 30 years of finance, management and governance experience, is joining its Board of Directors.
Cochrane, a Hingham resident, has worked in high-level positions for both National Grid USA and National Grid PLC in London during a 32-year career with the company. In his most recent position at the multinational utility company, Cochrane led all global business development including all mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures. He has also served on the boards of several energy and pipeline companies including Nexus Energy, an energy monitoring company. Cochrane most recently served as the chairman of the board of directors of Millennium Pipeline Company, a $1.1 billion interstate pipeline company.
PowerOptions Board Chairman Christine Schuster praised Cochrane as an excellent addition to the energy-buying nonprofit’s board.
“John Cochrane brings his extensive experience analyzing the kinds of issues our members face every day,” said Schuster. “As our work continues to expand and the energy marketplace gets more complicated, it becomes more and more important and impactful to have board members like John willing to step up to serve.”
PowerOptions is continuing to seek out qualified board members.
“I’m so pleased to be joining an organization that is such an asset for nonprofits in Massachusetts,” said Cochrane. “The PowerOptions team and its board do a tremendous job ensuring its more than 500 members are well informed, well positioned and well advised on the complex energy landscape today.”
