Welcome to the latest and, we think, one of the most exciting new features of our improved website – the inaugural PowerOptions blog, which we’re calling Wired In.
PowerOptions was founded 15 years ago on the promise of becoming the leading energy buying consortium in Massachusetts, helping nonprofit institutions and government entities navigate the complex energy markets and maximize cost savings. As an independent nonprofit ourselves, we have worked to set the bar for other groups and suppliers.
One of the roles we take very seriously here at PowerOptions is that of advocacy and education. We enter into energy rate-setting proceedings on behalf of our members and actively participate in the regional power pool to pursue benefits that can help translate into a better system and cost savings. We also work to keep our members informed on a regular basis of important energy news, policy matters and changes in the marketplace that could impact their bottom line.
That last goal is the reason we have decided to launch this blog.
We don’t intend to be prolific, combative or particularly feisty bloggers – we’re not trying to compete with the Drudge Report or Huffington Post. We are energy experts. But what we intend to do, quite simply, is to use the media tools at our disposal to educate our members and keep you informed about important trends in the industry.
We believe this is part of our charge and one of the best ways we can continue to serve our members. We hope you agree and we hope you join us here for regular updates, share your views and how these issues impact your institution.
Cynthia A. Arcate is President and CEO of PowerOptions.
